Todd Haiman, a Manhattan-based APLD member, will explore the deep history of garden placemaking on-structure and how this has impacted his landscape design practice in New York City. He’ll share his experiences and knowledge of building roof and terrace gardens, and provide extensive context from an ecological, economic, historical, public/private need perspective.

About Todd

Todd Haiman, an APLD member, was born in Brooklyn, New York and presently resides in Manhattan. He received his graduate degree with a Master of Science in Landscape Design from Columbia University.

Since 2011, Todd has been Director of THLD (Todd Haiman Landscape Design) in New York City. The studio designs and builds residential gardens, roof and terrace gardens, townhouse gardens, large landscapes, vacation properties, and public spaces. His first residential garden design in Brooklyn, was awarded by the James Rose Center for architecture research + design, sponsored by ASLA and Garden Design Magazine.

He is incredibly grateful to the mentors that have guided him and the many talented individuals that have collaborated with him through the dozen years of his career.
